Book

Members of the Hoelscher-Buxkemper Family book committee breathed a sigh of relief on 3 December 2007. The book was finally delivered to the printer. The printer’s estimate of the normal processing time from that point to delivery of the book is 4 to 6 weeks. However, the Christmas season could have an impact on the schedule so a delivery date of mid to late February is probable.

The book of the Hoelscher-Buxkemper Family Genealogy will have 1430 pages, 8 ½” x 11”, be Smythe Sewn and Hardbound. The cover will be Navy Arlington Linen B Grade gold foil stamped.

Current plans are to ship the book, to those who have ordered them, by Fed-Ex or USPS depending on the address on file. Fed-Ex doesn’t deliver to post office boxes so the United States Postal Service will be used to ship to those with PO box addresses.

If you have not already done so, you may purchase one of these beautiful books for $75.00 by filling out the Book Order Form. And mailing it in along with your check to address on the form. Place your order within the next two weeks and get in on the initial shipment.

Thanks to the Book Committee members for the many hours spent to amass this amount of data on the descendants of Anton and Mary Catherine Hoelscher. It was a lot of pick and shovel type work in digging for and sorting out the correct information. The Book Committee should be proud of accomplishing a task many people shied away from that yielded a masterpiece.

Das Hoelscher House

The Hoelscher Haus was built in the late 1870′s by Anton and Elizabeth Hoelscher Jr. on their farm near Ellinger, TX. The farm is now owned by Henry Hoelscher. Henry and Esther Hoelscher donated the house, built by Anton and Elizabeth, to the Polka Lovers Club of Texas museum and it is was moved to its new location on the grounds of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange, TX in October 2005.

The house was constructed in the salt box style with two rooms on the lower floor and two rooms upstairs. One of the rooms, which is now used as a display area for polka memorabilia, was originally the parlor of the house. The Polka Lovers club of Texas is accepting donations for maintenance of the Hoelscher Haus. Donations can be mailed to Polka Lovers Club of Texas, Hoelscher Haus, PO Box 72. La Grange, TX 78945-0072.
